N...
I got to looking through the ol' records and began to think, "I never really loved an 'N' band." The latter half of the alphabet is all good, I can tell you all about that in future weeks, but I can't say I downright get stoked for bands whose names start with "N." No Use For a Name? Nirvana? Names for Graves? (Love that shit, but I can't homer here.) No for an Answer? Negative Approach? Negative FX? Nada Surf?
Nothing was pumping my nads hard, until I flipped through the itunes and recalled--Naked Raygun. Go jam any of their 80 million records and you'll understand why the midwest had punk rock on lockdown for such a long stint. My personal favorite track is "Treason" off of the Understand LP. Get into that and then go download all the NUFAN records you can muster.
Runners up: All the bands I just listed and this picture...

We're just a Minor Threat...
Take your pick for this one--first 7", In My Eyes, Out of Step--each Minor Threat record rules. I would say that I prefer the the latter, but you can play the discography front-to-back and know all the words, hum all the guitar parts and tap all the drum fills. I don't think there is a hardcore kid who can't do that.
Runners up: Marvin Gaye, Mad Minds, Millencollin, Moondog.
